Gary Cooper is not generally known for his comedic roles, however his straight face as the captain of an experimental sub chaser during WWII adds to the fun this film generates. Ably supported by Eddie Albert, Jack Webb, Harvey Lembeck, Millard Mitchell et al, this is one of my all time favorites. Picked to indicate the workability of a novel type of steam engine as their propulsion unit, the crew does everything in it’s power to accomplish the “Beast” work, (by well-liked (or otherwise) means. While broken down in the middle of Chesapeake Bay in the middle of the night, the crew sights a tanker who they immediately signal for succor by lamp. Their answer is hasty in coming, not by signal lamp, but by a round from the tankers deck gun! The tug that keeps towing them attend to contemptible keeps a scorecard on it’s deck house showing how many times the “U.S.S. Teakettle” has been brought home. Towards the destroy of the film, they finally accept the “Beast” to work only to regain that their throttles are frozen and they can’t boring down! What follows is hilarious. This is a must watch film! It hasn’t lost it’s punch over the years!

This runt comedy is based upon an right incident of World War II. In an misfortune to bag more bustle out of some of its ships, the Navy tries an experiment using a modernized steam engine. Steam does explain to be pleasurable of giving higher speeds but the jam is with getting enough new water to produce the steam. Enter Gary Cooper. He plays an engineer who has been commissioned as a reserve officer. He has not staunch experience in ship handling but is assigned to issue the experimental ship. He is not too timid at first. He figures he can rely on experience officers and crew and devote himself to the engineering scrape. Unfortunately for him, the only experienced sailor is the bosun. All of the rest, officers and crew, are short time reservists. This leads to a slew of comedic situations.

It’s a fun and light hearted comedy worth the viewing.

Based on Alberto Moravia’s book “L’Uomo che Guarda” (The One who Watches - Voyeur) it revolves around a young Italian Literature Professor who has a preference for watching rather than doing. He has a very marvelous name - Dodo. His seriously hot wife gets so fed up that she resorts to extramarital affairs and finally threatens divorce. Meanwhile Dodo is immersed in a world where everyone else is happily doing it. His bedridden father does it with the sexy nurse who goes around topless and often bottomless as well. His students are all doing it, sometimes in public. One exquisite student invites him over for a threesome but sadly he can only obtain his kicks by watching. At the local nudist beach, everyone is at it. When he finally finds out who his wife is having her straggle with, there is at last a gay ending - of sorts.

Newcomer Katarina Vasilissa, a blonde Polish photomodel-turned-actress, looks gorgeous as Dodo’s sexy wife. Thankfully she spends most of the time undressed and engaged in gratified activities both in bed and on the beach. Cristina Garavaglia as the sportive nurse is equally watchable. Where blonde Katarina is smoulderingly hot, brunette Cristina is gaminely sexy. All the other bit players are equally dazzling.

For softcore erotica, Voyeur is great more explicit than usual. There is copious corpulent frontal nudity. Tinto Brass’ lovingly lingering beaver shots are in abundance. I especially loved the Cigar scene (a tribute to Bill Clinton) . Strangely, there are also a lot of birdie shots. And very rarely for softcore, there is a scene showing a steadily rising birdie, all the contrivance up to stout tumescence. Of course there are also various scenes of simulated sex. Cowboy and doggy. All looking elegant valid. And very hot.

The DVD from Cult Epics is in 1.78:1 (enhanced for widescreen TV) . It looks very nice with soft pastel colours, soft-focus lensing and a sparkling decent transfer. Very well-kept print. However I enjoy, this was shot in 1.66:1 (like other Tinto Brass films) and subsequently cropped across the top and bottom to fit the recent 1.78:1 widescreen TV. Very murky but what can I say. The fullscreen crowd who despise murky bars have taken over the studios.

This comes in the recent Italian with optional English subtitles. Build clear you win the recent Italian Uncut version (in Italian), and not the separate English dubbed version made for the US market. In the accompanying interview, Brass makes positive that he takes no responsibility for any cutting in the American version. All in all a handsome addition to the Tinto Brass collection.

This is a splendid movie in every diagram. The filming, the lighting, the pretty pastel colors, the not-too-soft soft-focus, and of course the graceful women build this DVD a joy. Thank you Tinto Brass. Time to try other movies by him. The man has a jaw-droppingly healthy attitude toward sex, nudity, bodies, women, savor, humor, and movie making. Moreover, “Voyeur” throws a vastly different slant on feminism from the one we are fed daily. If this movie doesn’t prove the empowerment of women — in ways that men cannot but like, even though they (we) accumulate hard to handle — then what does? It may be fantasy, but Brass’ near brings men joy in showing women fulfilled and blissful — IN BEING WOMEN!! An Oscar for Tinto…..even though I mediate he has already enjoyed his section of earth’s blessings!!

This was the first Blu-ray I purchased and frankly I was disappointed with the video quality. I realize the film is never going to glance as elegant and shipshape as more novel films, but the image quality seemed lacking.

It has a soft, washed out ‘milky’ peer and the detail is off and on. Sometimes the close-ups on faces are impressive, but then it will slash to a city shot at night and I really noticed the lack of definition.

Of course noteworthy of this flatness comes from the fact that the photography was fairly slow in the first residence (the whole film has a ‘grey’ recognize), but I composed expected something more impressive on the Blu-ray format.

Also the sound is not HD or PCM. It comes with the same audio as the previous DVD.

So my advice, if you only want to procure Blu-rays with top-notch video & audio quality, this is NOT one of them. But, if you are simply a fan of the film and want the best quality version available, then this is quiet your best bet.

Although this movie is fabulous, sadly it is one of Harrison Ford’s last suitable performances (other than perhaps “Distinct and Display Anguish” in 1994) . Ford plays Dr. Richard Kimble, a man wrongly accused of killing his wife. He escapes prison and then sets out to not only avoid recapture, but also present his innocence. As valid as Ford’s performance is, this movie is really carried by Tommy Lee Jones who plays Marshall Samual Gerard. His humor and intensity are outstanding. The station is sharp with lots of action. This is the first movie I’ve had the pleasure to recognize in the theater, on laserdisc, on DVD, and now on HD DVD. The HD DVD transfer is quite marvelous and the sound is improved over the DVD version as well. Highly recommended.

I fair watched this today and contacted the track to pick up out what became of the drivers in the film. I have never been grand of a racing fan, being from a immense city on the east glide where entertainment was plentiful, but, after watching this film, I feel I have to go to this track and check it out. It was like Rocky. I found myself pulling for Sammy to bag the accumulate that he desired so badly. The film was like a combination of Roger and Me by Michael Moore, and Rocky. I only hope the town of Anderson, IN can rebound and find up after being knocked to the canvas.

I belief a lot about this review.

I’m an animation buff, so I can well say that this film received the maximum bad on animation - the amount of details and notion that was do into every movement and shot is admirable, and the result shows. It is sure that the animators did an fine job - even went down to details such as having the muscles of the dinosaurs vibrate when the foot hits the floor. Sometimes I actually forgot that this was an animation movie, and mistook it for a National Geographic feature.

The tale, on the other hand, is rather disappointing. It seems like the development process stopped after the record became reasonable. The characters are only skin-deep, and it is frustrating for someone who had already seen a couple of movies before that this one brings nothing recent to the shroud. It’s dusky to stare so many ‘deja vu’s while watching, seeing so many thing that you have already seen before, especially that the main character - Aladar - is an orphan dinosaur raised by monkeys, carries a finish resemblance to Disney’s previous feature, Tarzan.

Two thumbs up for the music - it really hits the site. The composer captured every moment so naturally that it fits like a glove. Nothing I say can deliver the impression, so you might as well behold it for yourself.

All in all, an extraordinary animation feature with a primitive place. This film - in itself - receives 4 stars from me, although if I had calculated my impression on the Collector’s edition, I would have definitely lowered it to 3. It simply wasn’t worth the extra money I added. The second DVD contains very puny material, and I really expected more from a highly documented production such as this one to include more material. People prefer this item to accept more information about the animation process, and I really feel like I wanted more. I really deem that I should have bought the regular edition and saved some cash.

I am not determined what critics were expecting when they shot this movie down. It is a fun and intelligent adventure for children and adults alike. It may be a miniature too scary for children under 6, so be warned. Let’s rep one thing straight, folks. Dinosaur is a movie for CHILDREN. So, don’t go in expecting to discover the second coming of Jurassic Park. The movie does offer knowing CGI special effects and breathtaking scenery. I like the account for kids because it stresses teamwork and the value of every individual. The lead character, an Iguanadon named Aladar, is very likeable and I found myself rooting for him time and again. Was the movie expensive? Yes. Is it one of Disney’s best ever? No. BUT, it is fun and entertaining. There are SO many movies out there for adults. This one is a winner for kids. Don’t cheat your kids out of enjoying it because they will.

I saw this film on theatrical release in and was very disappointed. Of course, alot of the disappointment initially had to do with the amazing hype build-up that accompanied the current trilogy. Nothing could have lived up to the public’s expectations.

That having been said, The Phantom Menace is disappointing not so considerable because it stinks, but because, I fell, with some additional tweaking, it could have been remarkable powerful better. Its almost as if Lucas got the residence ideas and character concepts developed to a schematic level and then sort of lost interest in them and did not gain them any further.

1. We never really bond with or understand Qui-Gon’s character or his relationship with young Anakin. He states that he thinks Anakin may be the chosen one, but that is not really sufficient. We need to view an emotional bond or some kind of identification between the two, but it fair isn’t there.

2. Not to prefer on Jake Lloyd (he’s probably a expansive kid), but Lucas or whoever impartial did not regain a gracious performance out of him. Plus, there is no hint in young Anakin at this point of character traits or flaws that might later foreshadow his tumble. Yoda says he sees madden and fright in Anakin and the Jedi Council manufacture vague predications that he may eventually be perilous, but we as audience members honest don’t look it. We are supposed to infer that Anakin is somehow damaged by his life as as slave and subsequent separation from his mother, but again, we don’t perceive any of this. His life as a slave doesn’t seem to exhibit any hardship; his expansive scene saying goodbye to his mom is not particularly racy (mainly due to wooden acting by Lloyd; Pernilla August as his mom does a worthy job plan) . Also, if he’s a slave, how does he have time/resources to form robots and pod racers? Unprejudiced not very apt to life.

Perhaps if we had seen Anakin and/or his mom subjected to some sort of abuse or exploitation we would have a better indication both of the horror and exasperate in Anakin and also a potential emotional reason for why Qui-Gon wants to rescue Anakin. When I reflected on it, I view it would almost be better if Anakin were like the feral boy in Road Warrior II: an unkempt, unclean, and agressive character that had to be somewhat tamed and civilized by his Jedi rescuers. We don’t seek any character flaws, any petite hints of selfishness, arouse, terror or frustration. As is, young Anakin is impartial an average cute kid; we don’t seek any depth to why he wants to elope his life as a slave or accelerate off to join the Jedi so we don’t really care.

3. Source of humor: The unusual series had a mix of humor based upon the droids 3PO and R2D2 and also with the human characters (primarily interactions between Solo, Leia, and Luke) . In TPM, the vital source of humor is generated from droids and Jar Jar Binks with slight or no silly banter or interaction between human characters. This has two effects: 1) relying on computer-generated characters for humor means the considerable acquire of humor becomes physical slapstick, which is one of the main complaints about the Jar Jar charcter; and 2) the interactions between the human main characters, when deprived of humor, makes their relationships seem dry and mechanical, another source of the shallow characterizations.

The one droll moment that stands out is when, after being ambushed by the Trade Feds at the beginning, Obi-Won says to Qui-Gon with a wry smile: “Well, you were proper about one thing Master….the negotiations were short!” This one moment stands out because it is one of the few jokes between human characters and it works and expresses some of Obi-Won’s personality. It also effectively echoes some of the banter and attitude that made Solo’s character so liekable and crucial to the unusual films, an attitude and sensibility that is lacking in TPM. As is, we are stuck with Jar Jar’s pratfalls for yuks, and it unprejudiced doesn’t work unless you are 5 years obsolete.

4. The shallowness of Darth Maul: Similar to other problems with character depth, we don’t know enough about Maul. He says early in the film that at last he will have revenge on the Jedi. Revenge for what? We never know beyond vague notions that the Sith and Jedi are broken-down enemies. That is not enough. We either need to be shown more attend myth on this or have some reason for Maul’s motivation. His fight scenes with the Jedi at the waste are dynamite and clearly the actor is very skilled in martial arts and projects a menacing attitude with only minimal dialog or hide time, but we never really know anything about him other than “he is a unpleasant guy” and that is not enough.

5. Set goofiness. As others have pointed out, all the midi-chlorian business is a red herring of mumbo-jumbo that takes the mystical mystery out of the Force and reduces it to a medical condition. The Jedi are supposed to be wise, grand seers, but them seem oblivious to the presence and intentions of the poor guys over and over again. Having young Anakin execute C3PO is comical and seems like a forced “cricle closer”. Further, having Anakin commence out on Tatooine doesn’t seem legal and seems liek another circle closer that is forced. Wouldn’t he remember all this years later as Darth Vader in Episode 4? Wouldn’t there be some result of this coincidence? As celebrated above, having a slave that doesn’t seem to be deprived or suffering and has the time/resources to manufacture robots and pod racers as a hobby seems goofy too.

Again, it seemed to me like Lucas got the place and characters to a positive point and then stay on them. With only a shrimp extra danger or different emphasis on sure elements, the movie could have been worthy improved and the audience would have had more insight into the characters and identified with them more. As is, the lack of character development combined with wooden acting makes it hard for the audience to care. The special effects position pieces are spectacular, and the computer generated elements are pioneering and well executed, but without a reason to care about or like the characters, its hard to net too mad.

Again, not a monstrous movie, but frustrating because with fair a few changes or extra exertion, it could have been so distinguished better.

George: The movie must have a child-friendly laughable relief, and we also need some clever doll to sell afterwards… hmmmmm… Jar Jar Binks!

George: Wait it can’t be too child-friendly or we’ll loose the fans! Throw Maul into the ring, oooooh he’s scary… hmmmm… we’ll carve his dialogue down to three lines so the action figure can enjoy them all!

George: Liam Neeson is starting to complain about his lame character and dialogue… hmmmm… let’s objective give him a wonderful death at the raze of the movie… wait we’ve already done that.. aaah what the hell! Everybody loves a cliché!

George: All the chilly authors have expanded my universe making it diverse and sparkling… but let’s unprejudiced focus on places we know… like Tatooine!

George: Anakin is really shimmering… we’ll let him manufacture C-3PO… wait why doesn’t Vader eye him later? Oh yes… he’s unbiased been ignoring him… heh heh…

George: Oh yeah I’ve also invented these midiclorieans… which they for some odd reason haven’t heard about in the unusual episodes… well the knowledge has objective been lost in the spacious Jedi massacres later on!

Actually I’m a Star Wars fan… and I like Episode I because of the frosty action scenes, spectacular special FX and I actually don’t believe that the acting is so poor, and Jar Jar is stunning comic at times. I fair have this love/hate thing for this episode. The whole Star Wars spirit, the innovation slow the extinct trilogy has been replaced by some kind of Disney oriented commercial family pack! To great money (minus 1 star) too runt creativity (minus 1 star) … and George you better clone Darth Maul in Episode II and develop it bloody and obnoxious for Anakin, and realease the current episodes on DVD (and not effect 6000 special editions), or I’ll carve off that beard of yours while you sleep! (can you pick up sued for this? )

I cherish “Clash of the Titans,” but I’m terribly disappointed by the quality of this DVD. The “all-new digital transfer” that the manufacturer promises is quite possibly the worst transfer I’ve ever seen, enhancing the film’s visual flaws while disguising its merits. In composite shots, live-action elements are so washed-out as to appear almost black-and-white at times, while stop-motion elements are garishly intelligent and crisp, looking more like cartoons than dimensional objects. This is particularly pronounced in shots of the flying Pegasus; the digital transfer so exaggerates the matte lines around the figure that it appears to be a paper cut-out plastered against the sky. Even the shapely Medusa segment suffers from these defects: what was, in the unique (and on VHS), an atmospheric balance of rich darks and flickering red lights, becomes a clash of nearly impenetrable spots of shadow against grainy, pale-brown relief. I’m no authority on digital transfers, but my guess is that this one was done as mercurial and cheaply as possible, the manufacturer’s reasoning being (probably) that fans of Harryhausen will be so thrilled to have his films on DVD that they could care less what the films gape like. Well, I was thrilled to have “Clash of the Titans” on DVD–but when the abysmal quality of the transfer interferes with the very effects that invent the film mountainous, my enthusiasm wanes considerably. I’d teach fans of Harryhausen to assume the video version, and to write exasperated letters to the manufacturer protesting their callous desecration of one of the master’s greatest films.

What a shame, this is Ray’s last feature film and they give the man a kick in his pants with this transfer. This has some of Ray’s best creations and it’s ruined with a washed out grainy print. I could not bring myself to give it a lower rating. The film deserves 5 stars for Harryhausen’s astonishing work, but the DVD transfer keeps me from giving a corpulent thumbs up. The movie is unruffled very watchable and at a bargain stamp it should not be passed by, but it should have been powerful better! Thankfully they are starting to work on releasing his films on Blue Ray….I’ll retain my fingers crossed that they do this gifted genius justice!

Meanwhile, Ichigo shelters an exhausted, badly-injured Hitsugaya — only to have the boy-captain accelerate away after one night, after muttering something about “Kusaka.” His friends begin sniffing around for evidence of this Kusaka, while the wounded Hitsugaya is tottering around Karakura — and an execution order has been save on his head.

Then Captain Kyoraku is nearly killed by Hyorinmaru, at the same time that Hitsugaya was fighting Kira and Hisagi. During a battle with the mysterious Kusaka, Ichigo realizes who he is and why the Soul Society tried to ruin him — and how remarkable power the Ouin his given him. Now Hitsugaya is clear to finish Kusaka, but Ichigo is sure that he won’t be the only one to fight…

Perhaps the biggest quandary with “The Diamond Dust Rebellion” is that it plays fast-and-loose with some of “Bleach’s” canon, such as the view that two people can have the same zanpakuto’s spirit.

But if that can be overlooked, then “The Diamond Dust Rebellion” is a heavenly radiant fragment of work — more focused and intense than the first “Bleach” movie, and beautifully engrossing. The animation is actual, detailed and still, and everything is bathed in pale cool light and frosty clouds, augmented by explosions of ice and blasts of mist and snow.

And it has plenty of astounding action sequences (a moonlit fight at a shrine) and some stunning visuals (the ornate cloud-borne procession in the first scene), honest up to a spectacular climactic fight between Kusaka and all the most mighty Soul Reapers. Fortunately to support things from becoming too grim, the writers also included a bit of laughable relief — namely Renji’s arrangement of “resuscitating” an unconscious Ichigo. Let’s objective say it doesn’t involve mouth to mouth.

Obviously Hitsugaya gets the most development in this movie — he’s always been an chilly loner, but here we catch a gaze of his past losses and a lone friendship. And once more, he tries to grasp on all the responsibility so others will be spared. Thankfully, the flashbacks are oblique enough that at first we don’t realize what he’s doing, or why.

Ichigo comes in a cessation second, since he’s had that lone-wolf/tough guy act in the past, and it seems shapely natural that he’d want to encourage out someone who has the same emotional problems. But a lot of other characters secure microscopic spurts of attention — the beneficial Ukitake, shrewd Kyoraku, his uptight lieutenant Nanao (who loses her chilly after he’s injured), rough-edged Renji, and many others.

Even the villain is well done, since you can examine how he ended up so bitter and vengeful — although his puny sidekicks are basically cannon fodder.

“Bleach Movie 2: The Diamond Dust Rebellion” is a far smoother dawdle than the previous “Bleach” movie, with radiant animation and a blooming fling into Hitsugaya’s clouded past.

This film is without a doubt one of the greatest anime films I’ve seen. What he first film did bad, this film does lawful. What was done legal in the first film, it was done honest again in this one, but even better. I really liked the action in this film A LOT. Seriously, this film has impartial some astronomical action in it. The scene where Kusaka(the villain) transforms into a dragon, and then Kenpachi honest charges at him was FREAKIN AWESOME. You even collect an account battle that involves the whole 13 Court Guard Squad, and yes even Head Captain Yamamotto fights. The drama with Hitsugaya wanting to occupy on the his burden alone was done greatly. Kusaka, the villain, was enormous, and you could really pity the character. Kusaka also comes off as frigid when he kills his subordinates, the arrancar chicks. The obtain in this film was spacious, it even seemed shadowy in a couple of scenes. The fable serves more like a mystery, which was nice. The main thing I liked was that you got more interaction with the other characters, unlike the first film. Chad and Ishida actually fight in this film(albeit briefly) . My approved scene(s) would have to be when Kenpachi charges at Kusaka, and when Soi-fon and Yoruichi fight. Also, you glean to peruse Ichigo don his Hollow hide, but that only lasts for one moment. Hitsugaya in my view is one the most overrated characters in the Bleach universe, but he was fair awesome in this film.

The only thing I didn’t like was the whole “I’m gonna grasp vengeance on Soul Society” storyline, which I feel has been over-used.

These IMAX videos are beautifully done. I prove them on a Shiny Board in my classroom and one feels as if they are upright there where the action is taking plot, on a smaller scale than at an IMAX theater of course. The videos are sterling for all ages (I relate first graders) . They are aesthetic and relaxing, and it’s nice to grasp a moment out of the bus”y”ness of life and relax to savor nature’s awesome beauty.
