If nothing else one has to give credit to the WWE for attempting to spread out further than the squared circle. While their attempt at a recent football franchise failed, their diving into the world of film has done well for them. Some movies hit highs and some tumble to lows but they’re almost always captivating. They also provide a jumping board for the careers of their wrestlers. Such is the case with John Cena.

Cena has starred in one film already, the well received THE MARINE. An action film seemed a natural leap for him and he did a beautiful job handling acting and action chores both with ease. The next step was finding a follow up vehicle and that came about with the modern release 12 ROUNDS.

Cena stars as Unusual Orleans policeman Danny Fisher who winds up by circumstance in the middle of an FBI hunt to track down a terrorist named Miles Jackson (Aidan Gillen) . A skedaddle follows and after he stops the terrorist, Jackson tells his girlfriend to speed before he takes the time to seek an oncoming truck in her path. Blaming Fisher for her death, he swears they’ll meet again.

Fast forward one year later and Danny is now a detective. He heads to work only to glean a phone call. It’s Jackson and he informs Danny that he’s taken Danny’s girlfriend Molly (Ashley Scott) hostage. Impartial to let him know he’s serious, Jackson blows up Danny and Molly’s house while Danny watches. He then tells him they’re going to play a game with the life of Molly hanging in the balance. All Danny has to do is rep the majority of the 12 rounds Jackson has planned for him.

Danny contacts his partner on the force for assistance and then heads out to engage on the first round. Each one sets him up for a life or death position for either himself or some innocent person who finds themselves eager in helping him. While he rejoices at the wins, he begins to feel guilty over the losses as they involve the death or injury of someone else.

Along the contrivance the FBI become fervent since they’ve been watching all along. Of course Danny’s not to enthusiastic to work with them since they failed to convey him earlier of the prison demolish curious Jackson. Unlikely allies initiate to work together to try and acquire down this wrathful man while saving Molly at the same time.

Steve Harris stars as Special Agent George Aiken, the main agent in charge of catching Jackson from the inaugurate. His concerns focus more on the recapture than on saving Molly. Of course this results in head to head conflict with Danny and his goal of saving the woman he loves. Agent Aiken has a personal reason for wanting Jackson caught as well but eventually realizes he may have build his personal interests above the life of this woman.

The clock is ticking and with only so many hours allotted for Danny to complete all of his tasks, he struggles to get a arrangement to beat Jackson at his occupy game. Beaten down, battered along the scheme, the final showdown approaches. Only then will we survey who wins and who loses the game of 12 rounds.

Cena does a fair job here with only one dilemma. He’s never given worthy chance to act. Perhaps that’s the map, giving him unbiased enough moments to convince people of his sincerity but for the most fraction objective jumping, running and fighting to approach the films conclusion. Cena can do a decent job of acting but unless he’s given the opportunity, his chances of a long term career in film dwindles.

While the film does offer the requisite amount of action with minimal amount of site, the twists and turns Jackson puts Danny through are novel for the most portion. But as I was watching this film I kept thinking I’d seen it before. It was only after I was reminded by a friend that I keep it all together and realized that Bruce Willis was radiant powerful build through the paces of games that kept him running in DIE HARD 3. While this film is not an proper copy, the overall feeling creeps in at times.

That being said, it remains a radiant part of entertainment. The production values are well done and all the money spent to compose the characterize shows on the veil. Rarely has Original Orleans looked this first-rate and with the terrible press of Katrina, it’s nice to spy the locale feeble once again.

All in all you won’t do infamous by renting this film to glimpse. And for Cena fans, you’ll want to add it to your collection. But let’s hope that he gets the chance to stretch himself a dinky further in his next film. Only then can he hope to execute greater stardom rather than acquire himself in the straight to DVD category.

In his earlier movie, John Cena was The Marine, which was not very well received. In 12 Rounds, he stars as Detective Danny Fischer of Novel Orleans Police Department. This movie is definitely a step up from The Marine as Cena has developed his acting and action skills further. The sage is tantalizing and the action sequences are spectacular but one gets the feeling of having seen it all somewhere before. The bus bomb sequence is ripped from Hurry - the bus number here is 5050, in Hurry it is 2525. The blowing up of Cena’s partner is another scene that takes me wait on to Race [Blu-ray]. The streetcar sequence is somewhat similar to the pronounce sequence in Spider-Man 2, but the action is more `human’ than superhuman, so to explain. Others remind me of the various Die Hard movies.

Nevertheless, the director and the writers deserve credit for integrating all these sequences into a seamless whole so that it does not feel contrived or even impossible (we know it is) . Aiden Gillen is excellent as the villain of the allotment, terrorist Miles Jackson. For once, the hero in this movie does not try to do everything on his gain - he reluctantly agrees to FBI cooperation.

It is also stout to gawk Unique Orleans being feeble as a locale for an action film. We are quite weak to seeing L.A., Novel York and Chicago as a backdrop for action movies, but this was a revelation. The city looks exquisite on blu-ray and even the many night scenes are well done. The film makers have gone to gigantic lengths to employ authentic settings, though I do not know the extent to which they former FX and CGI. The ending of the film was never in doubt, but it was a fitting finale. I have not yet seen the alternative endings, though. One word about the Digital Copy - it suffers from too many artifacts in some quickly involving scenes, but the overall presentation is reliable.

Cena’s acting career is fair starting to consume off and this is a distinguished better outing than The Marine. The future can only be brighter. This film can heartily be recommended for all action lovers.

One of the deciding factors I consume to settle whether or not I will bewitch a DVD is, “How many times will I want to leer this film? ” Well, as far as this DVD is concerned I’m nearing the double-digits in viewings. This is essentially a Family Film with a substantial cast of actors such as Laurence Fishburn, Joan Allen, Joe Mantegna, Ben Kingsley, David Paymer, William H. Macy, and a minute role by the then virtually unknown Laura Linney. After that, there are some shapely scenes filled with some salubrious child acting. I happen to mediate any film with friendly child acting is worth seeing, they are so rare. The myth is well-written and ranges in emotion from humor to borderline outrage and deep-seeded disappointment. This film actually reminds me of “The Color of Money” directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Tom Glide and Paul Newman. I got a similar buzz from both films. After I perceive “The Color of Money” I feel an unbridled desire to play pool. After I search for “Searching for Bobby Fischer” I need to fracture out my chess board or play on my chess program. There is even a shot taken directly from “The Color of Money” that is old here. In “The Color of Money” there is a immense camera shot of a mountainous room that starts with a shot of the ceiling and gradually pans downward to declare an empty hall with about twenty pool tables station up for play. In “Searching for Bobby Fischer” there is a sweeping camera shot that begins with a shadowy shot of a hallway ceiling then floats through an archway into a big, empty hall filled with dozens of chess boards ready for play. This film did procure a single Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography, and with shots like those it is easy to contemplate why. This is a very solid prefer for anyone, chess fans or no. There are a couple of scenes that bend towards the over-dramatic for the sense of keeping the anecdote thrilling. Such as the final chess match, which is not what really happened, but it makes for a more absorbing scene. I know this because the proper Josh Waitzkin helped execute my chess program Chessmaster 9000 and his championship games are all listed therein. Minor discrepancies aside, everything about this film is gracious and altogether pleasurable. Thank you.

This is not a movie only about chess any more than “Field of Dreams” was only about baseball. This is about a father who wants his son to excel, and about a son who unprejudiced wants his father’s treasure and approval honest to be a “normal” kid. “Chess” in this movie could have been a metaphor for any special “gift” or talent, but it is necessary to mention that this film is based on real-life persons and events.

This is a memoir about finding one’s character and courage in the face of mounting pressure and high expectations. It’s about a very young boy who wants to be certain his father loves him for who he is, not impartial for what he can do.

Written and directed by Steven Zaillian (who wrote, among other things, the screenplay for Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List”), SFBF is a heartwarming movie that has you rooting and cheering. And young Max Pomeranc is a actual sparkling young actor! Multiple Oscar-nominee Joan Allen plays the boy’s mother in this film, and here she continues to solidify her space as one of the most fantastic actresses working today. Will she EVER secure the widespread recognition she deserves?

This DVD has many spellbinding facts to offer in for human evolution. It is becoming more apparent that human evolution is valid. Within even the last 20 years palentologists are gathering up the fossil and DNA evidence of our past. Hopefully 20 years from now we will have a better conception of who we are and where we came from. This film is a must peruse.

I guess you can say it is somewhat made for mainstream television with all of the dramatic cuts, but that fair spices up the impart that is being viewed; also, it makes it easier to spread this attractive yarn. It is worth watching.

Al Pacino burns up the mask in Dog Day Afternoon which is based on a fair account and confirms that fact that truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. Mr. Pacino plays Sonny who teams up with the dullard Sal (John Cazale) to remove a Brooklyn bank on a sweltering summer afternoon. Sonny was a one-time bank employee, so he knows all the tricks of the trade to thwart bank robbers. Unfortunately for the robbers, the bank virtual has no money do to having made a deposit only hours before the robbery attempt. A shopworker across the street from the bank notices the unfamiliar proceedings and calls the cops. Before you know it, the bank is completely surrounded by cops. The cops (led by Charles Durning & James Broderick) initiate a hostage negotiation with Sonny. Even though Sonny’s a crook, he isn’t all awful and he, Sal and the hostage bank workers create a peculiar kinship. The fable is shown on TV and a crowd gathers in the streets as well and Sonny becomes something of a cult hero. His scenes on the street outside the bank are scintillating including his illustrious Attica chant. Sonny is married with kids, but it turns out that he was robbing a bank to pay for a sex change operation for his joyful lover, Leon (Chris Sarandon) . The movie closes out at night at the airport in dramatic fashion. Sidney Lumet does a glowing job translating the heat and humidity of the day and you can feel yourself sweating along with the characters. Mr. Pacino has been more heralded for his Godfather roles, Scarface, Serpico and Scent Of A woman, but in my book, he was never finer than he was in this movie.

Without showing a designate of his wintry performance as Michael Corleone in “The Godfather” parts 1 & 2, Al Pacino made a radical departure by playing a bisexual bank robber in “Dog Day Afternoon.” Here’s a hilarious (but apparently right) account about Sonny (Pacino) who stages a bank robbery to finance his lover’s sex change operation. Within minutes, the attempted robbery heads for danger, as the police and media surround the bank while Sonny holds the employees hostage for the entire day. Even after nearly 30 years, “Dog Day Afternoon” is a marvel to examine. This film won a well-deserved 1975 Academy Award for its witty screenplay, and Pacino’s performance ranks among his best. Unfortunately, those who are looking for a deluxe-edition DVD will be sorely disappointed with this release. The recount is incredibly grainy, with spots, hairs, and marks. The sound is 1-channel mono, instead of a 5.1 surround remix. But the biggest slap on the face is the virtual lack of features on this DVD: we don’t even procure a trailer. All we gain are production notes. Movie buffs and Pacino diehards will rob this up, but everyone else should occupy off, rent the film, and hope that Warner Bros. will release a special edition of this gargantuan movie.

I’m editing my review. In my case, I’m an obsessive fan of these movies, and maybe nothing would’ve met my expectations. If you haven’t seen these films, seize this DVD IMMEDIATELY! You will not be sorry, and more than likely you’ll score my criticisms baseless and nit-picky.

I wrote the novel after skipping around the discs and being extremely disappointed by what I saw. Since then, I’ve sat down and watched both movies on this disc and my belief has changed somewhat. The spot was my expectations, not the staunch product.

On the whole, these films DO watch improbable when compared to every other DVD release available (MGM and the R2 Pathe discs from France) . However, they don’t peer nearly as apt as I own possible. I believe this film deserves the royal treatment, an all original, high definition transfer by seriously skilled people.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jean De Florette / Manon of the Spring! Click Here

Unfortunately, while the resolution is estimable, it is anamorphic, and appears to be a straight NTSC transfer (and not a PAL-to-NTSC conversion as I previously notion), there is fair something not fair. The colors are blueprint too hot when compared to the genuine film, and there honest seems to be a layer of fuzz or blur over the whole thing that is not reveal on the tall mask.

I give it 5 stars because the films are extraordinary. The two greatest foreign films I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched them each about 15 times, and never grow tired of them. I exquisite great learned French watching these movies.

However, this DVD seriously lacks. This movie is in dire need of a original and improved subtitle translation. While the subtitles accomplish sense on the whole, I’ve studied the French script, and there is a grand deal missing in the translation.

There are no special features.

For YEARS, these films have been out of print in America, the originals going for upwards of $50 a fraction on ebay. Clearly someone was paying attention and realized there’s enough people who delight in this movie to manufacture it available again. But slapping this area together, while allowing unique viewers the opportunity to leer the films, is an insult to fans who’ve waited a LOOOONG time for a wonderful American release. But a cheap release is better than none at all.

Caveat: Perhaps if enough people win this DVD, MGM will wake up and release a friendly special edition. For $14, it’s a mammoth deal for two masterpieces, but we could’ve done better than this.

Two tall steps forward, and one 1/2 step serve. Contrary to the impression from the disc specs on the serve of the jacket, the fresh MGM/Fox double feature disc DOES demonstrate the films 16:9 enhanced. They are also, surprisingly a ample step up from the earlier R2 PAL discs, which for the longest time were the only method to satisfyingly glimpse these on a widescreen point to or front projector.

Unfortunately they composed aren’t a home speed. The represent in general consistently looks a small too ‘hot’ - difference is jacked up which blows out the details in the highlights in many shots- also there is an at times over bearing yellow tint to the image in the countryside exteriors. Some EE and ringing are also visible in a few shots. Handsome detail on the other hand is distinguished improved over the PAL disc and artifacts related to compression are a monumental improvment over the first MGM release.

These should have been color timed a bit cooler- but on the whole, this current release easily represents the most watchable versions of these two classics yet (at least, not counting the widescreen Image laserdisc station that is now long out of print) .

Its a shame that this release is so halt, and yet composed misses the sign. At least this one will suffice for a few years until the film are (hopefully) properly presented on one or both of the High Def formats.

The films themselves gather 5 stars easy- the recent disc gets 3.5 for PQ and AQ.

In the mood for something cheesy, I hit the local video rental area in search of an entertainingly-bad cult b-flick. ‘The Thing With Two Heads’ DVD had impartial recently hit the shelves, so I decided to choose a gamble on it. I’d never seen it before, and until now it was almost impossible to pick up on video. Fortunately, I was in for a treat- it is indeed as comic and corny as I’d hoped it’d be!

A unfamiliar mix of panic, medical drama, blaxploitation, sci-fi, and chase/suspense, ‘The Thing…’ can’t quite figure out exactly what it wants to be. Never the less, this small confusion is what adds to the movie’s cheesy charm. Then of course there’s the not-so-special effects: check out the scenes with the two-headed gorilla and our double-noggined marquee man as he (they? ) outrun the cops on a dirt bike!

Grier & Ray Milland’s on-screen chemistry worked about as well as oil & water, which would be an absolute pains were this a top-notch flick. But here, it’s practically a necessity! Also, if you wanna experience the most incompetent police force since the Keystone Kops & the trashing of more fuzz cars than you’d witness in an entire season of ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’, then the climactic dart scene through a grassy Southern California valley will surely get your day!

‘Late

Have you ever wondered how frosty it would be to have a second head grafted on your body, honest next to yours? I have, and so has Hollywood, the land of candy cane dreams and pennywhistle fantasies. Now I know some will say, ‘Why do we need another two headed freak type movie? We’ve already got two entries in the `two-headed man’ genre with The Manster (1962) and The Fantastic 2-Headed Transplant (1971) .’ And I might agree, if not for the fact that neither of those two films really deals with the social ramifications that the AIP release of The Thing with Two Heads (1972) touches on, specifically what happens when you graft the head of a white bigot’s head on a soul brother’s body, the consequences being pure cinematic gold (well, okay, maybe not, but it’s obvious fun to explore) .

The Thing with Two Heads was directed by Lee Frost, who also gave us such lurid exploitation pictures as The House on Bare Mountain (1962), The Defilers (1965), and Policewomen (1974) and stars Oscar winning actor Ray Milland (no, he didn’t score the award for this film, but for the 1945 film The Lost Weekend) and archaic L.A. Rams football player Roosevelt `Rosey’ Grier. With respect to Milland, it certainly is fascinating, even a bit sunless, to eye a once astronomical star wallow uncomfortably in number of trashy 70’s B pics like this or Frogs (1972), objective to name a few.

As the film starts, we are introduced to Dr. Maxwell Kirshner (Milland), a highly successful surgeon who runs a number of clinics specializing in human transplants. We also learn that Maxwell is terminally ill, and is conducting a secret experiment in his basement, one designed specifically in mind with the possibility of saving his life. If you guess it has something to do with transplanting his head onto another body, you’d be accurate. The experiment involves grafting a second head onto a gorilla (played by Oscar winning special effects makeup artist Rick Baker), and then removing the modern head, seeing if the newly grafted head survives. The process takes about a month, allowing for the second head to grow strong enough assuming control of the host body. There’s a ravishing humorous scene when the gorilla escapes, and terrorizes a convenience store before being recaptured.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Thing with Two Heads! Click Here

Anyway, the gorilla experiment is a success, opening the door for a human head transplant, but Maxwell’s condition is deteriorating fast, and he soon goes into a coma, but not before instructing his subordinates to follow through with his plans. Only spot is a compatible host/donor body is extremely difficult to approach by…until inquires are made with the prison board, and a likely candidate is found in a supposedly wrongfully convicted murky man on death row, Jack Moss (Grier), scheduled to be executed. Jack, seeing a chance to prolong his existence for another month, allowing for him to try and pick up the only man, who went missing at the time of his trial, and could distinct him by supplying a credible alibi, accepts the deal. Thing is, Jack has no conception what’s in store for him. So what happens when both men realize what has happened? And who gets to maintain the body in the raze?

The notion here is surely lively, albeit deeply entrenched in the realm of fantasyland. I know not if this film was meant to be a serious science fiction characterize or not, but given the smattering of comedy throughout, I am assuming the latter. Most of the truly comical scenes advance from the situations arising after the surgical plot, and Milland’s character’s expounding of bigoted statements. Racism in and of itself certainly isn’t comic, but the level stupidity within Milland’s character and his lack of control over the state definite is…okay, the scenes where Grier is running around with a plastic head attached to his should did gaze fraudulent, but I didn’t focus on that too grand. The scene that really sort of derailed the film from being better than it was, for me, was the extended ride scene on the motorbike. It was droll for like a few minutes, but then, probably due to the skimpiness of the state, runs for remarkable longer than it should have, lasted well over 15 minutes. My current scene was when Jack and Maxwell, on the lamb as Jack is level-headed a convicted criminal, go to Jack’s girlfriend’s apartment (I adore her absolute lack of shock at seeing this irregular creature, and her utterance, `You regain into more sh$t…’), and Jack tries to launch intimacy with her, to which she expresses uneasiness with Maxwell’s head lawful there. Jack then turns to Maxwell and states, `Now you know you got to go…’

The print broken-down on this release looks really suitable, and is in wide hide format. The only special feature available is a theatrical trailer for the film, which is almost as comical as the film. Obvious, this cheese may stink, but at least it goes easy, not taking itself too seriously. One thing I did learn from this film is that when one head of a two-headed man smokes a cigarette, the smoke will actually expel from the mouth of the head not smoking…seems logical to me…and lovely humorous…

Five MOMENTOUS Stars!! A Substantial Movie!! “Glory Road” tells the honest fable, with mighty dramatic license along the plan, of one of sport’s greatest moments. A moment that changed the face and color of college basketball and rippled across all sports. It’s the account of a exiguous known college basketball coach, Don Haskins, and how he came to be the coach of puny known Texas Western College in El Paso, Texas. It’s also the epic of the dismal players who would be recruited from all around the USA to eventually wind up playing in one of the greatest moments in college basketball: David “Daddy D” Lattin, Nevil Shed, Willie Cager, Orsten Artis, “Wee” Willie Worsley, Harry Flournoy, and of course the slow floor general, Bobby Joe Hill. And the other team members played their principal roles also: Jerry Armstrong, Louis Baudoin, Dick Meyers, Togo Railey and David Palacio. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer does a extraordinary job of bringing support the singular moment of the all-white Kentucky team under Adolph Rupp (Jon Voigt is a hoot in this role) and Haskin’s all-black starting five meeting in the NCAA basketball national championship final game spotlight during some tough racial times for the USA. In fact, Haskins had played this combination of players many times before during the season to exiguous local fanfare, so it was no stout deal to him. He objective wanted to rep. Josh Lucas is broad as Don “The Own” Haskins in this helpful James Gartner-directed movie. It’s said that Lucas, in preparing for this role, was driven out into the desert by Haskins in his truck and they fair sat and talked (and drank) for many hours discussing how Haskins did it and the device he did it. (This has turned into quite a satisfactory friendship since then.) The movie pre-screenings, with all of the living fresh players on hand, in El Paso are greatly appreciated by all of us who lived through those extraordinary times and are detached here.

In light of today’s social freedoms, the movie does a sizable job of depicting the tough racial times of the 1960’s and the events that keep Haskins, the team, and TWC on the athletic way forever. Not to mention the immense pot of money that TWC got from participating in the tournament. Shortly after these events, the University of Texas education system made TWC a chubby partner by the redesignation of the “University of Texas-El Paso” and a boatload of construction/faculty money flowed from Austin to El Paso. I was there and it was a sizable moment to be remembered. A ample must-see movie not impartial for the sports but also for the social impact of those times. Hats off again to Jerry Bruckheimer for personally carrying the banner on the national-level TV and radio shows promoting this movie. Five “Slam-Dunking” Stars.

*The Texas Western College NCAA Championship team was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007.)

“Glory Road” tells the account of the Texas Western Miners, a college basketball team who won the NCAA Championship in 1966. But this wasn’t unprejudiced an ordinary championship, no, for the starting line-up in the championship game was all Dusky players, a thing that was unheard of in ‘66. Or better yet, even a dim player being recruited by a college team was out of the ordinary. However, the 36 year stale coach Don Haskins recruited seven Shadowy players for his Texas Western team (when the season begins, he starts three of those players) . The team was barely even opinion of in the college world before then, then with the back of the seven shaded players, they went on to rep the championship.

The movie opens with a girls basketball game, and you glimpse that Don Haskins coaches girl’s basketball. Later on, he is asked to coach Division 1 basketball, for the Texas Western team (with one drawback; he would have to live in the dorm room with his wife and kids) . Then, he sets out to recruit players that would befriend the team derive. When he recruits all Dismal players, it’s certain that most people (even the Shaded players themselves) idea Haskins was crazy. Among the players he recruited were Bobby Jo Hill (played exceptionally by Derek Luke), Willie Cager, David Lattin, and Harry Flournoy. His practices for the team were intense and his rules were strict. This would all pay off in the extinguish though, with the Miners winning the championship over Adolf Rupp’s Kentucky Wildcats (with Pat Riley, who is a character in the movie, it’s strange to hear his name called while he’s playing, brilliant he’s a game-winning coach with plenty of rings) .

The movie does depict the racism at the time as well. It wasn’t an easy chase for the coach or the Gloomy players on the team. In the first game, the fans clapped for the two starting white players, but the whole arena was tranquil when the Dusky players were announced. The team had racial slurs written in their hotel room during their game. One player was even beat up in a bathroom. Haskins was harassed as well. The racism almost tore the team apart, but with the coach’s wait on they stayed together and changed the course of basketball.

All around, the acting was expansive. Josh Lucas did a huge job as Coach Haskins, completely becoming his character. Derek Luke did broad as Bobby Jo Hill. Jon Voight played Kentucky coach Adolf Rupp, but you wouldn’t really know unless you read the credits. Nonetheless he did a spacious job. Mehcad Brooks, Sam Jones III, Schin A.S. Kerr and Damaine Radcliff (who played Flournoy, Worsley, Lattin, and Cager, respectively) all did trustworthy in their roles. The actors practically become the players. The cast couldn’t have been better.

Overall, Disney has released another gracious movie about sports underdogs winning it all (I enjoyed Remember The Titans as well) . If you like that movie, there’s no draw you’ll despise this. It is a well-cast, well-directed movie that will satisfy any basketball fan, and will hold everyone watching. It’s been said that it follows the cliches of all other similar movies, but don’t we always look them anyway?

The film triumphantly shows how one coach changed the game (and face) of basketball completely. One quote from the film is “You’re acting like negroes are gonna be the future of basketball!” and I couldn’t abet but laugh when that line was said. The importance and significance of that season and the tribulations of the team is wonderfully shown. Don’t pass this up.

The setting spans the rocky planets of our solar system (Venus, Earth, Mars) with occasional visits to the asteroid-laden rings of gas-giant Saturn.

Like most anime entries, the 52-episode saga does not consist of 52 individual episodes but rather 52 parts of a single chronicle. Episodes typically raze very abruptly and retract up in the next episode exactly where the previous one left off. Additionally the display doesn’t candy-coat concepts such as death or betrayal. Like dependable wars, there are casualties and the team you happen to be rooting for doesn’t always reach out on top. Finally the consume of mecha (in this case they are called E-Frames or ExoFrames) takes another chapter from the typically considered Japanese status of expertise.

Previously released across several VHS tapes, this spot collects the first 13 episodes together in one package for the first time. Episodes will be presented in stout frame video, with English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio and English subtitles.

Here are the episodes contained:

1 Pirate Scourge

2 Seeds of Deception

3 Hidden Terrors

4 Blitzkrieg

5 Resist!

6 Target: Earth

7 A Traitor Among Us

8 Scorched Venus

9 Sabotage

10 Abandoned

11 The Brood

12 Betrayal

13 Defying Olympus

True this happened while Babylon 5 was calm going on, BUT the reason i wrote that as section of the title is that this indicate is dramatically quick-witted for an challenging series in the morning. For me this beat X-men on Saturdays. It beats X-men for it had a beginning middle and destroy, a strong structure for legend telling…aside from that tid bit in the final episode…fans you know what I am talking about. The animation may not be as crisp as 90s Batman, but you have to give them the props for the detail they were puting in the character’s compose and the gain of the ships while bringing to life serious scenes and action sequences. If you haven’t seen this expose and are a fan of racy series in action, adventure, and down to earth characters and sci-fi political drama…you will be gratified for what it was doing at its time. Such a expose should not be forgotten. If you are a fan of comedy then this is not for you. To those fans of X-men, GI Joe, to the battlestar Galactica and yes my fav B5…do check this out. Don’t occupy me or collected not positive, read other reviews to note our suggestions’ sincerity.

My online friends and I have been praying for a DVD release of this present for quite some time. My faded VHS tapes started loosing sound, watching on the computer YouTube episodes doesn’t really satisfy completely, but it was the arrangement. Thank you for this release. March is a scamper, and April is taking too long to approach.

I was extremely cheerful when Case Closed (detective conan) came to Cartoon Network so many years ago, and so very dim when it was canceled after only 50 or so episodes.

Basically Case Closed (detective conan) is the myth of Jimmy (Shinichi) Kudo, a noted high school detective and devout follower of Sherlock Holmes, that is poisoned by the mysterious “Sunless Organization” and becomes the child detective Conan Edogawa through a side do of the experemental drug he was poisoned with. After arresting in with his childhood friend and treasure interest (Their first date happens in Episode 1, before Jimmy gets poisoned) Rachel (Mori Ran) and her father Richard Moore (Mori Kogorou), Conan begins to solve cases, using Richard Moore as a puppet (after being knocked out by a tranquilizer plod, and using a mutter changer to sound like Richard) as he attempts to rep the unlit organization, and restore his body to normal. All the while, Conan must retain Rachel from learning the truth of his identity, or risk her and her father being eliminated by the gloomy organization.

The formula for Case Closed is basically 30-50 episode spans of Conan solving regular cases, as his relationship with Rachel (His relationship with her, in the obtain of Jimmy) begins to degrade due to their distance, and his relationship with her as Conan grows, with an episode related to the dark organization every now and again. After 500+ episodes of the series in Japan, only about 20-30 have had any relation to the dark organization, so when thinking about buying this series, I’d warn you that you may never secure to gawk the slay, unless you yell Japanese (I do) and have a friend that owns every single Japanese episode on DVD (which I also do) . Overall, Case Closed is an at-times endearing series, with valid mysteries for the first 200 episodes or so (at which point they all kind of blur together. There are only so many ways someone can salvage bumped off, and only so many possible motives for someone to do it) The only spot is that I doubt Funimation will be dubbing any more episodes (please point to me base Funi..) so dwelling 3 or 4 or whatever might be the last they ever release, when in fact they could release 20 sets and not near the demolish of the series. The Dismal Organization is a truly worthwhile enemy, despite this being a “For kids” anime (considering it’s 10 years archaic now, anyone that was a kid when it premiered, is now out of highschool probably. The stories have always been archaic, but they are getting even moreso now. Yes, that’s honest, it’s 10 years feeble, 500 episodes in, and it’s Tranquil GOING IN JAPAN. You may never peer the ending if you lift dubs and don’t roar Japanese) .

This is the cheapest Detective Conan has ever been in the US, and I absorb it’s finally time for me to seize it, considering that I’ve been a fan for many years now, and have thus far relied on my friend and on funimation TV reruns to derive my Conan fix. Case Closed (Detective Conan in Japanese) is a astronomical investment as far as time and money goes, and considering that there are entire 26 episode animes you can derive for the same mark, I can watch why people might be reluctant about this anime (especially considering the ratings were abominable on Cartoon Network), but if you give this demonstrate a chance, you might acquire a chunky 500 episode (and counting) saga to delve into.

I first started watching this expose with my cousin a few summers ago on Adult Swim…we’d try and figure out who could figure out the culprit first…it was fun…and now I adore this present…

Amazon is wrong in the listing of the runtime - this is the 125 slight version (117 shrimp in the UK) . This has not been edited by the studio (like Zu Warriors/Legend of Zu etc) . This is the official Director’s Lop of the movie (if you examine closely at the box art you will stare the banner at the top also informs you of this) - it honest so happens that the Director’s Reduce is a lot shorter than the released theatrical version - a Director’s Cleave does not mean a longer chop! I like the unedited version although it does have a tendancy to ramble a bit…so I would be keen in seeing this version.

CASSHERN is loosely based on the Japanese anime in the 1970’s called “Casshan Robot fighter” which was in turn adapted into the live-action TV series. Highly stylized and visually aesthetic, “CASSHERN” gives you that first impression that it is a drag-out robot smashing action film as its trailer suggests. However, there is more to this film than first meets the glimpse.

Plot synopsis derived from the dvd relieve cover/slip sleeve:

An alternate world with an alternate history.

The world is divided between two opposing alliances. After fifty years of bitter warfare, the Greater Eastern Federation triumphs over the Europan forces and gains control over the Eurasian continent. However, this is a hollow victory. Years of chemical, biological and nuclear war have ravaged the land; draining its resources and left an exhausted population at the mercy of every pestilence and newly-mutated disease. With the war ravaged world, hope dwindles for humanity’s future. Remaining leaders debate over the chances of finding some device to stave off the seemingly-inevitable decline of civilization. One man comes forward with a possible solution. Dr. Azuma is a geneticist who proposes a “neo-cell” treatment that can rejuvenate the body and regenerate humankind. He’s driven in his studies by a desire to keep his beloved wife, Midori, from the ravages of a pollution-caused rare disease. He appeals for funding to the government but the selfish politicians in the Health division rejects his proposals, fearing that the fresh technology may threaten their entrenched powers.

However, a harmful faction in the remarkable military makes an offer to Dr. Azuma to provide the financial benefit he needs to further his research. When an incident occurs in the lab that sends the Professor’s “neo-cell” cloning experiment haywire, a urge of mutant human beings (Shinzo Ningen or Neo-Sapiens) is unleashed upon the world. Instead of being the savior of mankind, the Professor’s miraculous technology looks dwelling to threaten its very existence…

Desperate, the scientist exposes the wearisome body of his son, Tetsuya to the Neo-cell fluids. Tetsuya, now relieve from the tedious with a original distinguished body must become Casshern, to defend the GEF from the rogue “Neo-Sapiens” and their killer robots… (WHEW! I’m tired)

The premise of the film is the scare of war. It is basically a 140 miniature anti-war movie. Casshern is a hard film to review, when I first saw it, it wasn’t very positive what Tetsuya was fighting for. Now, I saw it for the 2nd time privy to this review, and I kind’a like its mythology. As with most anime, the film has its possess portion of philosophical storytelling; there are a lot of political, emotional, social, philosophical reasons for Tetsuya’s struggle. He is very reluctant to fight again, being an ex-soldier. One might deem that his goals are simple, that defending man’s existence is his main goal. This is a Japanese film, so Tetsuya partly fights for something deep; Fancy.

There is a lot of inform in Casshern. This fact may be apt and poor. Perhaps I read too distinguished between the lines, but its impact and message is too strong to ignore. The LAST thing this film is an action film. The film relies on provoking emotional responses from its characters; we ogle the horrors of war and what needs to be done to change it. The twist is; one MUST fight a war to execute such change.

Ok, I’m rambling. Casshern is a visual and aural feast for PS3/Xbox 360 fan boys. The visuals seem vital to distract us from all the philosophy and the whole oedipal complex that is played heavily in the film. When Tetsuya starts smashing robots, with his one-on-one duels, the film takes a different tone. So, enough with the analysis! CASSHERN looks simply Amazing. The region designs, lurid cinematography and the CGI are all packaged in one frigid film that is positive to be awe-inspiring. The wonderful eye-candy is determined to satisfy!

I fill the region-3 release and I’ve seen the novel region-2 Japanese release which both utilized the same impressive transfer. It is very likely that the U.S. release will explore the same. I hope Amazon’s specs are mistaken, the runtime amazon says is 80 minutes, the uncut film is 142 minutes.

VIDEO/AUDIO: ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN 2.40 RATIO. The report is very nice and is intentionally enhanced to search for almost like a `painting’. Colors are lovely, the inequity is absorbing with very solid blacks. The Japanese 5.1 Dolby EX/6.1 DTS-ES is very great. English subs are helpful.

Parting thoughts:

Once you regain over the fact that this is not an action film, viewers will enjoy the message that Casshern delivers. If you glean this film for what it is, you will be treated to an worthy section of film-making. Casshern is definitely worth a discover, for CGI fans and even for those who aren’t. This film takes its time setting things up so patience and attention is a must!

RECOMMENDED! (4 stars)
